In addition- I finally watched the film "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel." I love Judi Dench. The entire cast was brilliant, as was the film. And to re-iterate what I'd been told, It is a million miles away from the book. No resemblance whatsoever. Good or bad, that is up to you. I loved the book, I love the film. Just two different creatures.
This was a fun, quick, enjoyable read. I liked reading about an older generation in a modern setting, especially one that I am slowly getting acquainted with. I've read enough about India at this point to be familiar with the culture, which at first I found shocking, but now I just find fascinating. The characters are interesting, if not a bit difficult to completely keep track of. A retirement hotel in a foreign country is an unusual idea for a story and held my interest enough that I want to see the movie, which I've heard is great but bears little resemblance to the book. Doesn't matter, anything to keep expanding my world!
