I was really surprised that I disliked this book as much as I did. I'd only heard spectacular things about Terry Pratchett's work, though I hadn't actually read any of his books before now. This came recommended by a contractor who was working on our house. He said that he never enjoyed reading until he found this book, and then proceeded to read all of Mr. Pratchett's books. I thought that that was an amazing endorsement, but it just proves the saying "different strokes for different folks."
I'm not sure the Disc World series is meant to be for children, but that is certainly what I would consider them to be. The writing is on that level, as is the subject and the simplicity of the plot. I mean to take nothing away from the author, as it seems he is well liked, but his stories are simply not for me. What a shame.
