Shōgun - James Clavell Although this is a really long, slow going book, there is never a lack of something interesting that keeps you reading. It is many things, a small amount of history, a good deal of Japanese culture, strategic plotting, action, and a love story to boot. There is a little something for everyone. I had a rough time keeping track of who the different lords were and where they were from and who was aligned with who, but they were only background characters so didn't impede my reading. If it was the war strategy I was reading for, then it might have. In my opinion, it was very well written and a very good story.
